Commentator and author Greg Gutfeld was called out by a Bulwark writer who claimed that Gutfeld's "racist mentor" was recently arrested. But Gutfeld, in typically Gutfeld fashion, wasn't having it.
Miller slandered Gutfeld, and posted a flyer for the "Unite the Right" rally from Charlottesville, Virg., 2017. It's unclear who Miller was referring to. Some online have speculated Miller was referring to Steve Bannon, but it hardly matters. the point was to damage Gutfeld's reputation.
In response to Miller's unclear and bizarre missive, Gutfeld took the opportunity to school the writer, and the rest of Twitter, in just how to deal with racist accusations.
Gutfeld wrote first off, that Miller has dismissed evidence that Gutfeld provided to the contrary, while also pointing out that someone else's racism isn't a reflection on Gutfeld, no matter what Miller thinks their relationship is.
instead of countering my evidence (i.e. the transcript of trumps words), this person smears me as having a "racist mentor." he paints a target on my back. how is this okay? how is this legal? how can he attribute a "racist mentor" to me? https://t.co/SC1KV1sQTb

Then he launched into the lesson:
1. Be aware that when someone accuses you of racism, they are "trying to silence [you] with fear."
realize when someone smears u with non-factual racist charges, theyre encouraging violence against you. it's a way to silence u with fear. we've already seen what that accusation brings. if u don't see this now, you will. we need to share the risk. @Timodc
— GregGutfeld (@greggutfeld)
2. Team up. When you're accused of thought crimes, the intention is to ruin you, so "share the risk." When someone you know is falsely accused of thought crimes—and really all accusations of thought crimes are false—get their back.
those who accuse you of non-criminal acts that cant be measured, do so to ruin you in the public square. if we do not join together & turn our power toward them, & share the risk - then they'll continue to cancel & harass you, as they wink at the violence heading your way.
— GregGutfeld (@greggutfeld)
3. Do not give in, do not back down. When you know the allegations against you are unfounded, yet they keep coming, stay strong and refuse to capitulate.
U claimed i had a racist mentor! & now you say, if i deny that - its my problem - BUT Not yours?? though U falsely accused me of that?? WTF????? people: do you see what he's doing? he's the mob!
dude: admit U fucked up, or i will pursue your slander to the end. trust me. https://t.co/f0JwOElG48

Tim Miller thought he had a leg to stand on, but he didn't. Eventually he deleted his slanderous tweet. But the lesson had been taught, and those following along will not soon forget it.
Gutfeld summed it up rather succinctly.
lesson: 1.when someone smears U, you must fight back 2. when U see someone falsely smeared - assist them & share the risk by defending them. 3. Cuz once the bar for entry in the cancellation olympics is raised, the canceling coward slinks away - like this sad chap below. https://t.co/1L8I6nTu8n
— GregGutfeld (@greggutfeld)
The mob cancellings themselves have been called out. And those on the receiving end of these endless, bizarre, and unclear accusations, in service to social justice ideology, will not stand for it anymore. Gutfeld gives those targeted a way forward, and hopefully it takes away the power of the mob.
