who would take to burning Rowling’s books are also missing that her new book, which few who condemn it have actually read, is neither transphobic nor about a trans person.
An Irish pop duo called Jedward has suggested to fans that they burn their JK Rowling books. Caught up in the false-tumult over Rowling's perceived homophobia with regard to her new book, Troubled Blood (under pen name Robert Galbraith), the pair appear to think that burning books is the progressive thing to do.
Does anyone need firewood this winter! JK’s new book is perfect to burn next to a Romantic fire ? Aww get all cozy and comfy can’t wait ?

While book burning as a concept has primarily been relegated to authoritarian, fascist dictatorships and cultural revolutions a la Chairman Mao, it's now back, in pop form.
Rowling has received a masses of hate ever since she stated her belief in science. While believing in science, as a concept, is a progressive mantra, it's only some kinds of science that they want people to believe in, and biological science is not among them.
In progressive circles that believe the mind dictates what the body should be with regard to sex and gender, the backlash against Rowling has been so fierce because many feel this is a betrayal. Rowling's Harry Potter series spoke to many who felt outcast from the rest of their peers. Now that Rowling has made a stand that biological sex is not mutable, many who believe that it is feel like she has gone back on her word to embrace and accept them.
So we’ve now reached the point where JK Rowling’s critics are advocating burning her books. Book burning. Remind me where that ends up.

What they are missing, however, is that Rowling, her words, and her outlook are not actually against any persons or how they choose to live. She merely believes that there is nothing wrong with the bodies anyone is born into, that there is no medical necessity to alter those bodies to fit an image in the mind, and that, even with medical intervention, a person's biological sex is not transformed to be its opposite.
Jedward and others who would take to burning Rowling's books are also missing that her new book, which few who condemn it have actually read, is neither transphobic nor about a trans person.
