Pelosi says she’s ‘satisfied’ with Biden’s silence on sexual assault allegations

"I do support Joe Biden, I’m satisfied with how he has responded. He’s the personification for hope and optimism in our country and I was proud to endorse him."

This is a stark departure from her stance in 2018 when she fully supported Christine Blasey Ford in her accusations against then Supreme Court nominee now Justice Brett Kavanaugh, when she asserted that she believes survivors, complete with hashtag.

Appearing on CNN on April 30, Pelosi said that she “has great sympathy for any women who bring forth any allegation,” and noted that she’s a “big strong supporter of the Me Too movement before saying that she was proud to endorse Biden.

She went on to say “I am impressed with the people who worked for him at the time saying that they never heard one iota of information about this, nobody ever brought forth a claim or had anyone tell them about such a claim.”

That’s all fine and good, but the problem is that these are completely different standards. She and her colleagues in the Me Too movement held Brett Kavanaugh, Al Franken, and others to a standard where those men had to try to prove their innocence against women who said they’d been wronged. Biden, on the other hand, just has to do nothing, say nothing, and expect fully that the women who took up pitchforks against other men in similar circumstances will instead raise those pitchforks on his behalf.

And they are doing it. The women of the Democratic Party who now stand behind Joe Biden, who still refuses to speak about Reade’s claims, include many of the same people who stood behind Ford and her MeTooing of Brett Kavanaugh.

Stacey Abrams, who failed in her bid to become governor of Georgia and is now rumoured to be on Biden’s short list of potential Vice Presidential picks, has no concerns about supporting him for president.

She told CNN “I believe that women deserve to be heard and I believe that they need to be listened to, but I also believe that those allegations have to be investigated by credible sources… I believe Joe Biden. I believe that he is a person who has demonstrated that his love of family, his love of our community, has been made perfectly clear through his work… I know Joe Biden and I think that he is telling the truth and that this did not happen.”

However, in 2018, Abrams decried Kavanaugh’s nomination after Ford’s testimony. She and so many others jumped onto the Believe All Women bandwagon without any concern for actual due process.

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was part of the mob that got Al Franken to resign his Senate seat, yet she’s all in for Biden. Sarah Silverman called her on it.

The women who are backing Biden know they are caught between the ideological interests they advocated for on one side, and power on the other. When they declared in 2018 that they believed all women who shout me too, they never imagined that their guy, the one they need to elect in order to defeat the orange menace, would be subjected to his own me too allegations.

Biden has been silent on this for now, and given that the left doesn’t take apologies of wrongdoing too well, there’s no doubt that he’ll stay silent for some time to come. The women who’ve got Biden's back are left explaining away allegations that get more credible with every passing revelation. Unfortunately for them, this goes entirely against everything they said they stood for. Apparently there's nothing more important than power.
