Sunny Ways: Liberals Planning Smear Against ‘Career Politician’ Scheer
There is no denying that Justin Trudeau and Andrew Scheer come from two entirely different upbringings.

There is no denying that Justin Trudeau and Andrew Scheer come from two entirely different upbringings.
While Trudeau Jr. was born as a celebrity and can trace his lineage straight back to 16th century France, Andrew Scheer's parents were middle-class Canadians who did not own a car.
Scheer's father worked for the Ottawa Citizen and his mother was a nurse. At the turn of the century, his parents' household income only exceeded that of the median household because of they both worked.
Trudeau's spouse definitely does not mind the spotlight. Meanwhile, Scheer's spouse seems like she would be a supportive first lady but it doesn't exactly appear as though public life was always her first choice.
This contrast did not prevent the Liberals from planning to paint Andrew Scheer as a privileged career politician who has earned millions of dollars from politics.
We have seen glimpses of this line of attack before, but it appears that it will no longer be limited to the occasional side-comment to the media.
They also plan to use the same attack on Conservative finance critic Pierre Poilievre, who, to the casual observer, looks to be competing with Michelle Rempel and Lisa Raitt to be the biggest thorn in Trudeau's side.
Poilievre and Scheer were both first elected in the 2004 election which saw Liberal Paul Martin form a minority government. In the 15 years since, both have each earned between $2-3 million in public salaries. At the high end, that is an average of $200k per year.
Despite calling for a "positive" campaign in this year's election, Trudeau has repeatedly tried to fear-monger about Scheer being a reincarnation of Harper.
(Of course, we all remember what dire shape our country was in before Trudeau saved the day.)
As things get more and more desperate for the big red sinking ship, expect the government to launch messier and messier attacks that keep making less and less sense.
