‘Wrong thinking’ trans people speak out on Transgender Day of Visibility

As JK Rowling said in her now-infamous tweet on gender and sex, I, too, hope each trans person will "live [their] best life in peace and security." Women who are critical of gender identity ideology can shout until they're blue about how we take issue with the movement, the medicalization of children, the erosion of women's rights—among other issues—and not with actual trans people, but we are still called transphobic.

Shame, because many of us have been fighting with and for trans persons this whole time. Many trans persons share the same concerns as we do, and they have become pariahs within their own movement for daring to—gasp—think for themselves.

On this day, also consider why so few trans men are "visible," when compared to trans women. (Hint: Think about the biological sex of the group that is less visible and ask yourself if that is the same sex class that has historically suffered oppression under the other sex class.)

For this day, I reached out to four trans people I admire and asked them to share something they would like the general public to know about the LGBT movement—something that we will never hear from the mainstream LGBT movement itself.

Buck Angel is an activist, speaker, and defender of biological reality.

"Transition saved my life. I am here today to help educate by showing myself to the world, so you can see transsexual people just want to live free in the gender they feel. You do not have to understand, you just have to have compassion."

Blaire White is a well-known YouTuber and columnist for The Post Millennial.

"People should be aware that the community is not a monolith. We have as much diversity of thought as any other group, but the rational among us get overlooked. Transgenderism is not an invention of the woke left—it's simply been coopted by them."

Debbie Hayton is a journalist and physics teacher.

"I just wish the LGBTQWERTY+++ lobby would go away and leave trans people in peace. We had already secured the protections we need against less favourable treatment. But this lobby is using us to dismantle the sex-based rights of women and the safeguarding of children. That outrage needs to stop. We do not need to be victims. Instead, we need to take our place in society to help build a better world for everyone."

Fionne Orlander is a self-described "outlier" in the trans community.

"I'm worried many well-meaning people who want to be supportive allies are unaware of the conflicts within the 'LGBT,' particularly when it comes to gender ideology. Many LGB people, feminists, and trans people don't have a good relationship with 'gender' yet for some reason it [gender] is seen as the next progressive step to supersede laws based on sex, with an interpretive idea of gender. When I ask people what they mean by gender you can see them tiptoe around the fact that they mean sex-based norms—stereotypes. Perpetuating this in law is the opposite of progressive."

On this Transgender Day of Visibility, let's signal boost the trans people who are a minority within a minority: the Wrong Thinkers, the ones who stand for truth and reason, and stand up for women and children.
