Trenton Alexander Van Zoeren, 19, of Creswell, pleaded not guilty at arraignment.
Van Zoeren was charged on September 2 by a federal grand jury with assault of a federal officer involving physical contact, aggravated assault on a federal employee causing bodily injury, and willfully injuring or committing any depredation against property of the United States, the US Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon announced.
He pleaded not guilty during his initial arraignment.
The alleged offenses occurred in January 2026 during anti-ICE direct actions organized in response to the fatal ICE-involved and Border Patrol-involved shootings of two agitators in Minneapolis, Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
On January 14, Van Zoeren allegedly damaged a window at the Eugene federal building. He allegedly committed the same offense again on January 21, according to the US Attorney's Office.
Van Zoeren allegedly assaulted a Federal Protective Service (FPS) officer on January 28, resulting in the officer sustaining bodily injury, officials said.
If convicted, Van Zoeren faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
This federal building has been the site of ongoing anti-ICE riots since the summer of 2025. The direct actions have been predominantly organized by Eugene Antifa, a violent Antifa cell based just a couple of hours from Portland, Oregon.
On numerous occasions, President Donald Trump threatened to deploy the US Military and National Guard to quash the unrest in Eugene. The FBI launched several manhunts in January, putting black-clad anarchist rioters on "Most Wanted" flyers for their alleged violent roles in breaching the facility, as well as other alleged offenses.
The majority of Van Zoeren's indictment remains under seal. This report will be updated when more details are made available.
