A new poll by Mainstreet Research released on Friday shows that the Conservative lead continues to grow over Trudeau's beleaguered Liberal party, as Election Day draws closer.
The Conservative lead has grown rapidly in the course of the past several days. For example, the following image is from the results of a poll released on Wednesday Aug. 25 2021 just two days ago.
And at the beginning of the week on Monday, the Conservative Party had just edged past the Liberals in what was still considered to be a statistical dead heat. That day marked the crossing point in what could be a widening trend in coming days leading up to the Sept. 20 election.
The Trudeau administration has taken a lot of heat recently for what critics have called their poor handling of the crisis in Afghanistan. As of the time of this writing, an unknown number of Canadians are still trapped in that troubled nation, as the Taliban maintain control of the majority of Afghan territory.
There has also been widespread criticism of the Trudeau Minister of Gender Equality as she referred to the extremists of the Taliban as "our brothers" during a press conference in Wednesday. Judging by the new poll results, the statement was not a popular one with the Canadian voting public.
