A violent Antifa-affiliated agitator has avoided jail time after admitting to assaulting several federal agents during a direct action outside the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland, Oregon. The incident occurred on June 29, 2025.
August Dean Gordon, 32, of Beaverton, physically assaulted numerous federal officers, admitting to "kicking" and "headbutting" agents when they arrested him for damaging ICE facility property. This includes violently grabbing their genitals, according to court documents.

US District Court Judge Amy Baggio sentenced Gordon in late July to four months of home detention followed by five years of probation. The prosecutor sought a four-month prison term, while the defense asked for one year of supervised release.
The judge declined prison time, citing that it would be counterproductive for Gordon's mental health, his lack of a prior criminal history, and the lifelong burden of a felony conviction, per the Oregonian.
Gordon pleaded guilty in March to assault on a federal officer in exchange for the dismissal of the property damage charge as part of a plea deal, court records show.
On June 29, at approximately 3:14 am, Gordon was observed on ICE surveillance cameras vandalizing federal property. This includes "pulling off the proximity card reader from a stanchion located on the ICE facility's driveway in a sharp jerking motion," according to an FPS affidavit.
Prosecutors said that Gordon arrived at the ICE facility "ready for combat." He had been wearing a short-sleeved black shirt, a black helmet, clear goggles, a light blue surgical mask, black gloves, black boots, black elbow pads, and black body armour at the time of the incident.

Federal officers mobilized from the ICE facility to apprehend Gordon, which resulted in a short foot pursuit. Gordon "violently struggled and resisted arrest," prosecutors said. At least five officers sustained injuries while taking Gordon into custody. The defendant kicked one officer in the left shin, while another officer was kicked in the left forearm. Additionally, Gordon grabbed the genitals of three more arresting officers and launched a series of assaults that included kicking an officer in the back, kicking an officer in the knee, and kicking another officer in the shin. All of the federal agents reported experiencing pain from injuries. At least one of them sustained bleeding from wounds, according to the affidavit.
Gordon, who was ultimately subdued and had to be placed in leg shackles, admitted to vandalizing government property during an interview following his arrest. While in custody, he continued his erratic behavior, acting out and "flipping officers off," the affidavit states. Prosecutors said that Gordon explained that he had come to the ICE building "to protest what he described as a 'Handmaid's Tale'-style dictatorship, white supremacy, and 'selling abducted people to death camps.'"
Gordon, prosecutors continued, "boasted" about his "assaultive behavior," proudly declaring that he "kicked and headbutted officers," showing no "remorse" for his actions. US attorneys said that five officers were injured.

The defendant, a queer leftist activist originally from Oceanside, California, was a frequent demonstrator outside the ICE facility on Macadam Avenue until his arrest last year. Gordon was barred from returning to the ICE facility protest as part of his release conditions.
Gordon's sentencing hearing had been delayed since April, when Judge Baggio sought more information about issues raised by Gordon's defense team, one of which was Gordon's allegation that a federal officer took a "trophy" photo with him inside the ICE building while he was under arrest.
Assistant US Attorney Gregory Nyhus showed the judge Gordon's booking photo, which included an officer standing beside Gordon. The prosecutor explained that this type of photo is routine protocol and is used as a visual record for the federal investigation.
Gordon often demonstrated alongside his sister, Antifa-affiliated militant Maddeline "Maddie" Suzan Gordon, who has been captured on video evidence several times allegedly engaging in violent behavior against journalists and federal agents.
Maddie was captured in a viral video taken by TPM, allegedly threatening to sexually assault a disabled black woman with her cane after the resident living in an apartment building across the street from the ICE facility confronted Antifa over their ongoing noise disturbances through the early morning hours. The incident occurred on June 29, the same day her brother was taken into federal custody.
The US Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon has charged more than 40 protesters for alleged offenses committed at the Portland ICE facility since June 2025, when the infamous months-long 24-hour anti-ICE occupation was formed. The criminal offenses have included arson attacks, assault of federal officers with dangerous weapons, property damage, etc.
While Gordon avoided jail time, numerous defendants, many of whom are involved with the left-wing Antifa terror group, have been sentenced to prison for their roles in attacks at the ICE facility. Prosecutions remain ongoing.
