A high school principal from the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan is facing a probe by the New York City Department of Education following allegations that she discriminated against white teachers.
The Daily Mail reports that accusations by faculty members at the High School for Law and Public Service led to the probe being launched. They accuse her of discriminating against white staff and conspiring to get a white colleague fired.
A complaint was filed by faculty, which was obtained by the New York Post and claims that Principal Lev "flagrantly but unsuccessfully attempted to divide our school by race" and told an employee that she "was going to get rid of all these white teachers that aren't doing anything for the kids of our community."
The complaint adds that "she definitely has something against white people."
In the complaint, a faculty member alleges that Lev came to him with plans to terminate an unidentified white woman, firing her as excess staff. "Ms. Lev has asked me to conspire with her on a couple of occasions in getting rid of my colleague" added the faculty member.
The faculty add that Lev no longer has their confidence or hope. "As a school staff, we have lost confidence, creditability, trust, and most importantly we have lost hope in Ms. Lev as a principal at the High School for Law & Public Service"
This is not the first time that Lev has been in the news for race-related issues. In February, she publicly accused union chapter leader Nick Bacon of racism, telling him "I wasn't sure what your problem with me was, maybe it's because I am a woman of color and you're a white man?"
