"Regardless of what the media thinks, regardless of what anyone thinks, I apply the law."
Christopher Thompson wore a ski mask and forced his way into a woman’s car at gunpoint in July of 2023. He then drove her to the parking lot of Sanders Elementary School, where he raped her and forced her to withdraw $220 from an atm.
DNA that was on a water bottle in the victim’s car later led to his arrest. He was convicted in a four-day trial in December 2025, per WAVE. However, during a hearing on February 2, as he told Judge Tracy Davis to “eat [his] d*ck,” the judge sentenced him to only 30 years in prison, less than half of what was recommended by the jury for his crimes.
The judge read into the record comments Thompson had made directly to the court, including, “Eat my d*ck, b*tch. I’m going to pop your *ss and suck my d*ck, b*tch.” However, Davis still felt that 65 years was too long for Thompson to be behind bars.
“Unfortunately, he fell through the cracks and ended up before this court as an 18 or 19-year-old,” Judge Davis said. “This court does not believe that Mr. Thompson, if given the resources that he can get while incarcerated, is beyond being rehabilitated.”
Davis, who has the handle “@DiversityDavis” on X, said in the hearing, "Regardless of what the media thinks, regardless of what anyone thinks, I apply the law. I do not judge people before they walk before me."
“If you were to come in here, and instead of being hurt, and angry—which is what this court hears—as a 20-year-old, African American male that has been, you know, experienced this society, etc. And you would show that, yes ok, this is the situation, this is who I am, I don’t want to be in this situation anymore.”
When Davis was speaking, Thompson was unrepentant about the rape, and said that he “did not care” about the victim or her family and that he did not care about the sentence. Davis further cited his upbringing as well as other factors for why she did not give him the full 65 years that was recommended by the jury.
