"The swamp has claimed their queen."
"Tonight's results in Washington D.C. reaffirm the object of President Trump's campaign - he will drain the swamp and put America first," the Trump campaign said.
"While Nikki has been soundly rejected throughout the rest of America, she was just crowned Queen of the Swamp by the lobbyists and DC insiders that want to protect the failed status quo. The swamp has claimed their queen."
Thus far in the Republican primary ahead of the 2024 election, Trump has won every other state in the lead up to Super Tuesday aside from the nation's capital district.
Some left-leaning journalists online were struck that she won in the capital's primary, Brian Krassenstein wrote, "Why do you think Washington DC has gone so much different from all the other states that she has lost?"
"Is this a changing of the tide or just a false positive for her campaign? Do you guys think she will stick around after super Tuesday?" he questioned further.
Trump posted on Truth Social responding to the win from Haley, “I purposely stayed away from the D.C. Vote because it is the 'Swamp,' with very few delegates, and no upside.”
Human Events' Jack Posobiec, recognized the difference between voters in the capital and the rest of the states that have held votes in the primary.
"If the only primary that Nikki Haley wins is the one in DC the headline writes itself," he wrote ahead of the primary.
