Johnny Depp is rumored to return to his iconic Captain Jack Sparrow in a new multimillion-dollar deal with Disney.
The New York Post reports that Depp is "rumored to be getting paid more than $300 million to return to "Pirates of the Caribbean."
The actor had been cut from the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" franchise in 2018 and was rumored to have been cut permanently from the "Pirates" franchise he had helped make successful. His removal from the roles came as a response to his ex-wife Amber Heard accusing Depp of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
On June 1, 2022 a jury ruled in favor of Depp after he brought a defamation case against Heard because of her allegations. The jury awarded compensatory damages in the amount of $10 million, and punitive damages of $5 million.
The trial not only vindicated Depp but brought evidence to bear that Amber Heard was the violent abuser in the relationship.
News of Depp's return to the role is yet to be confirmed and according to Yahoo news a representative for Depp said the news is "made up."
