A deal has not been reached 43 days into the partial shutdown.

US senators are getting slammed online after they skipped town for Easter recess while TSA agents and other workers in the Department of Homeland Security have gone unpaid while working to keep the country going at places such as airports.

The backlash against the senators has come after the Senate passed a deal to fund much of DHS on Friday morning. The deal passed unanimously by voice vote, where senators did not even have to be present to record their vote in favor or against the deal.

The deal passed without giving any funding to ICE as well as only partial funding of Customs and Border Patrol. Later on Friday, however, the House rejected the deal, voting 213 to 203 in favor of fully funding DHS with a 60-day stopgap package.

Since the senators already left Washington, DC on Easter recess for two weeks, a deal cannot be reached 43 days into the partial shutdown. The shutdown will likely last into mid-April if the senators take the full recess vacation,.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was seen flying first class on the way out of DC.

The self-declared democratic socialist was slammed for flying first class as TSA agents are still working without pay.

“First-class socialist heading to a 'No Kings' rally while TSA workers and DHS staff go unpaid during the shutdown he helped drag out. Rules for thee, luxury seats for me. Classic Bernie hypocrisy flying high,” one user said.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) was seen at the airport with an apparent escort after the vote was made early on Friday morning.

When he was approached by a reporter he said, “We have a lot of work to do still.”

Conservative commentators Cernovich commented in reaction to Thune at the airport, “Senator Thune was seen at the airport skipping long security lines on his way to a nice vacation. He got a VIP escort.”

Other senators were also seen at the airport and slammed online, including Senator John Barrasso (R-WY).
