45-year-old Andrea Mizell is accused of giving her students alcohol, speaking to them in a vulgar manner, showing them explicit photos of herself, and touching them inappropriately.
A South Carolina dance teacher has been arrested following an investigation that began after parents raised concerns over a dance routine they said “conflicted with their morals.”
45-year-old Andrea Mizell is accused of giving her students alcohol, speaking to them in a vulgar manner, showing them explicit photos of herself, and touching them inappropriately, according to a report by Fox News.
The investigation began on March 12 when officers responded to reports of an argument at the dance school, with parents explaining they felt morally concerned about what was being taught. Mizell reportedly set a time to speak to concerned parents, but upon seeing the parents at the school, she fled and later claimed she felt intimidated.
The children attending the school told law enforcement that Mizell gave them alcohol and had “vulgar conversations" with them. She allegedly invited some to her home and served them margaritas while watching movies. Mizell would also discuss her sex life with the students.
Some students claimed Mizell touched them inappropriately, including "in the private parts on the butt.” One student in particular said Mizell would “go out of her way” to initiate inappropriate contact. The students further accused her of changing her clothes in front of them and exposing herself.
The dance teacher has since been charged with counts of second-degree assault and battery, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and three counts of disseminating harmful material to minors.
