Helene Boudreau on Thursday evening released a statement in response to her being persecuted by the brass at UQAM, where she is studying, accusing her of uploading "indecent" photos of herself.

Boudreau alleges that the accusations against her have no base in reality and are based on an "obsolete" concept of what art is.

According to La Presse de Montreal, Boudreau said (translated from the original):

"In modern society, the fact that a woman shows a part of her body, partially or otherwise, in a photo, when she has given authorization to the photographer and has been paid for such photos, should not be considered damaging to her reputation." She further went on to characterize her photos as "a mark of pride" and "a symbol of liberty".

Boudreau is currently studying visual arts at UQAM, which is a public university which teaches in French and is located in the heart of Montreal. She has been censured by university officials who are upset at what they are calling "indecent or pornographic content" featuring the UQAM logo.

The photos in question, which were uploaded by Boudreau, have her holding her diploma in a manner in which, according to UQAM officials "their logo can be clearly seen."

Boudreau was first contacted by UQAM on Mar. 2, at which time she was asked to take down the photos from Instagram, but not from Facebook, Twitter or OnlyFans. She complied with the request at the time, although she posted another photo on Mar. 12 which has now been incorporated as material for the lawsuit.

Since then, Boudreau has voluntarily removed the photos from all social media platforms.

UQAM claims that the photos have hurt their reputation, and is currently seeking $125,000 in damages.
