Swing voters reject DSA, socialism ahead of midterms: Americans for Prosperity poll

The poll surveyed 9,000 to 10,200 swing voters in eight states, including Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The poll surveyed 9,000 to 10,200 swing voters in eight states, including Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.

In what is a major warning sign to Democrats looking to lean into the "Democratic Socialist of America" (DSA) brand, swing voters have been found to have an unfavorable view of the left-wing group, according to new polling.

Americans for Prosperity’s (AFP) latest “Americans Unscripted” report showed that swing voters said 59 percent of the time that the Democratic Party is "controlled by the far left." 56 percent of swing voters also view the DSA unfavorably. Additionally, 82 percent of swing voters "choose personal freedom and free markets over more government control."

The results have gotten worse for the far-left Democrats as the midterm elections approach. In September, 50 percent of swing voters said the far-left controls the Democrats, and 50 percent viewed the DSA unfavorably.

“Swing voters are souring on socialism — and fast," AFP spokeswoman Katelyn Bledsoe told the New York Post. “That’s a real opening for Republicans, and the candidates who show voters a credible plan to bring their costs down are in the strongest position on November 3.”

AFP is a libertarian-leaning group, and the poll surveyed 9,000 to 10,200 swing voters in eight states, including Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.

One man that spoke to an AFP volunteer said, “Nothing is free."

“There’s an agenda behind all these promises of free benefits," the voter added. Despite the far-left agenda pushed by the DSA, Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin has embraced the DSA fringe of the party as part of the "big tent" of the Democrats.

Even though swing voters are souring on socialism, there are also red flags for the GOP going into the midterms. When asked about which party would handle cost of living better in August, 44 percent said the GOP and 39 percent said the Democrats. In October, that has gone to 36 percent saying the GOP and 45 percent saying the Democrats.

In New Hampshire, a woman told an AFP volunteer that the cost of living has become "out of control" for her. A local business owner in the state said that “inflation and fuel costs are squeezing my business."
