A whistleblower website put up by the "Texas Right to Life" pro-life group has been targeted by abortion activists, receiving a flood of spam and false tips.

The site has received numerous false tips claiming Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a leading proponent of the state's new abortion bill which was made law on May 19 and went into effect on Wednesday, was a violator.

According to The New York Times, tips about the law's potential offenders swarmed the website, which features an online form so users can anonymously submit reports of those who are illegally obtaining or facilitating abortions.

The fictional characters from Marvel's Avengers were also accused violators named by the reports. Other tips did not point to specific individuals but instead contained copies of the entire script to the 2007 animated film "Bee Movie."

There appears to be a staunch commitment on the part of many pro-abortion activists to bog the site down with fake data in order to defeat its purpose. This is especially germane to the issue as the new law is designed to be primarily enforced by the general public by setting up a framework where residents who perform, seek, promote, or aid in the performance of illegal abortions can become legally liable and could face penalties of up to $10,000 for actions.

The Times goes on to report that one tech-savvy activist set up a bot which was used by more than 7,200 other individuals to generate bogus reports to the site.

The law is both wildly popular and unpopular with Americans in and out of Texas. President Joe Biden also flip flopped on the issue Friday, saying that he does not agree with the belief that life begins at the moment of conception.
