"They have to be abused by guys like Don Lemon. He's a loser, a lightweight."
Trump made the comments about Lemon while speaking about the agitators storming the church, "They're patriots, and they have to be abused by guys like Don Lemon. He's a loser, a lightweight. I saw him the way he walked in that church. It was terrible. I have such respect for that pastor. He was so calm, he was so nice. He was just accosted. What they did in that church was horrible."
The former CNN host, who is now making his own content, claimed on Sunday that he was only there to document the event, and entered the church as a "journalist" to show what was happening. Despite his claims of mere documentation, Lemon was seen giving coffee and donuts to the agitators who stormed the church, according to footage that went viral over the weekend.
The storming of the building, which leftist activist Nekima Armstrong said was named "Operation Pull Up," is now being investigated by the DOJ in relation to the FACE Act, which prohibits the intimidation of those present at a place of worship.
After the DOJ announced that Lemon may face similar investigation as the activists who stormed the building, he released a video trying to distance himself from the actions.
"So, I have no affiliation to that organization. I didn't even know they were going to this church until we followed them there. We were there chronicling protests. Once the protest started in the church, we did an act of journalism, which was to report on it and talk to the people who were involved, which included a pastor and members of the church and members of the organization. That's it. It’s called journalism. First Amendment, all that stuff, for all of you people who believe in the First Amendment, absolutists, there you go," Lemon claimed in a video posted to Instagram.
Lemon admitted on camera before agitators stormed the church that he had knowledge of what was going to take place and was seen giving Armstrong a kiss on the cheek before the incident took place.
