A 28-year-old Toronto man is facing Second Degree Murder charges in connection with the death of a two-year-old girl.
According to a Toronto Police Service report, officers arrested Rodrigo Flores Romero on May 10, 2021 in connection to a March 19, 2021 incident at the hospital.
Officers responded to the sudden death of the girl at a hospital, who was brought in to the hospital in medical distress, later succumbing to her injuries.
The cause of death of the girl was determined to be blunt force trauma after a March 22, 2021 post-mortem examination.
According to the report, "Members of 31 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre oversaw the initial investigation," with the Homocide Unit taking over the investigation after the examination and death determination.
Romero will appear in court on May 11, 2021.
