Toronto police search for man who punched and choked woman in brutal daytime assault

The victim told law enforcement she was punched multiple times on the ground and that the assailant choked her until she was unconscious.

Toronto police are calling on the public to identify a suspect who brutally assaulted a woman who was left robbed unconscious at the daytime attack.

Police received a call on July 4 around 6:30 pm about an alleged domestic assault near Old Weston Road and St. Clair Avenue, reports CTV News.

The victim told law enforcement she was punched in the face multiple times while on the ground and that the male assailant choked her until she was unconscious.  

When she regained consciousness, she said the man punched her several more times, damaged her possessions, and stole her money before fleeing the scene.

Du Van Duong, 34, faces several charges, including assault causing bodily harm, choking to overcome resistance, mischief under $5,000, forcible confinement, uttering death threats and theft under $5,000.

He is described as 5'10", with a medium build, bald, and has brown eyes. Local law enforcement said he might be in the Oshawa area.
