Mueller appeared in court wearing full makeup, black leather pants, and a low-cut blue top revealing gigantic breasts.
Mueller, a 70-year-old trans-identifying biological male with two daughters, appeared to be accepted by those in attendance while being widely criticized for the choice of attire.
Footage of Mueller in the courtroom shows the attorney conducting business as usual with fellow public defenders.
Following the arraignment at Municipal Court, Mueller, formerly known as Stephan W. Mueller, was interviewed by local journalist Jonathan Choe.
"I just met her," Mueller said of Bordman. "She's really nice. She's really smart. She sounds like she's got the right idea about things, I really support what she's up to and I think she's fabulous."
When pressed by Choe on the fact that Bordman was being arraigned for criminal trespass, Mueller maintained that she was innocent. Before leaving, Mueller refused to disclose to Choe when Bordman's next court date was.
According to the Daily Mail, Mueller has over 20 years of experience in the legal system, much of that in the small conservative town of Vashon, and has stated that, "Everywhere I go, people are friendly and polite. In the courtroom, the issue has never once arisen – as should be the case."
"Four years ago I had no idea how everybody would respond and I really wondered if a jury would take me seriously or worse, if someone on a panel would be offended by my appearance," Mueller added.
X users criticized Mueller, saying that female lawyers would not show up to court dressed as Mueller had."How in the hell is the public defender allowed to show up to court like that?!" one user wrote. "The judge would immediately throw them out for that attire in any of the courts I've been to. The level of disrespect and narcissism is nauseating."
"He's mocking women and mocking the court," another added. "No female lawyer would ever dress this way for court or be allowed to for that matter."
