Law-abiding Canadian gun owners are the favourite scapegoats of the Liberal federal government.
Despite the fact that gun crime in Canada is caused by gangs, and the obvious reality that our country would be safer if we had more law-abiding experienced firearm owners as opposed to dangerous gang members, the Liberals refuse to focus on the actual source of the danger.
The Liberals repeatedly pretend that our gun laws are the same as in the United States, despite the immense differences.
They ignore that Canada’s firearm owners are among the most careful and law-abiding of all our citizens.
They ignore that in many rural areas, waiting for the police is simply not an option, and that for both hunting and security, it’s necessary for people in many parts of the country to own firearms to protect their families.
All of this is simply common sense, and you know that.
Unfortunately, we see once again that rather than follow facts or reality, the Liberals are seeking to scapegoat law-abiding gun owners following the horrific Nova Scotia tragedy.
We all saw how Bill Blair refused to let RCMP commissioner Brenda Lucki answer a question about the shooter, with the Liberals clearly afraid to say whether he was a licensed gun owner, and what kind of gun was used.
This fear from the Liberals is because they don’t want any facts getting in the way of their misguided push for more attacks on law-abiding gun owners.
The Liberals have refused to address gang crime, and have ignored the immense failure of the warning system in Nova Scotia.
Residents weren’t warned of the ongoing massacre, even as US Citizens living in the province received an email warning from their government while Canadians were left in the dark.
As a result, many people who would have safely stayed inside were instead out and about, because the RCMP & early warning system didn’t let them know about the danger.
Yet, instead of addressing those problems, the Liberals are trying to politicize & exploit this tragedy.
That will do nothing except make Canada even more dangerous, because the more the government takes rights away from law-abiding citizens, the more criminals—who ignore the laws anyway—will have free reign to commit even more heinous acts without resistance.
Rural Canadians will be the biggest victims of this, as the more the government deprives them of their right to defend themselves, the more people will be reliant on police forces that are often an hour away – by which time death has already been visited upon the innocent.
Right now, Canada needs unity and common purpose, but the Liberal government instead chooses dishonesty and division, at a time when Canada can least afford it.
