"What's happening here with the judicial system is an outrage."
Trump then took aim at President Biden, who he has accused of being behind the indictments, saying that he is the "worst president in history."
Speaking to reporters outside the Manhattan courthouse, Trump announced that the trial will start on Monday and that the judge wants it to be "as fast as possible." It is anticipated to last six weeks, and Trump is required to be in the courthouse each day.
"What's happening here with the judicial system is an outrage. And all over the world they're watching it and all over the world they're saying it," Trump said to reporters.
"This is a giant witch hunt trying to hurt a campaign that's beating the worst president in history—Biden is the worst president in the history of our country—beating him by a lot. And this is the only way they think they can win, but it's not going to work," Trump added.
Moments before Trump briefed the press, the highly-anticipated jury selection was completed.
The 12-person jury consists of seven men and five women, with careers ranging from retirees and lawyers to teachers and engineers, according to Fox News.
Trump has been charged with 34 counts of fraudulent business documents for payments made to his then-attorney Michael Cohen. The payments were recorded as legal fees in the bookkeeping records, but Bragg alleges that those funds were then used by Cohen to pay off a porn star, Stormy Daniels, with whom Trump is alleged to have had an affair. While these charges are typically misdemeanors, Bragg has elevated them to felonies by claiming that the alleged crimes were in service to some larger crime. He has not named that crime, however.
