The president declared critics wrong after claiming a two-under-par victory at his New Jersey golf club despite saying he has "very little time to practice."
Posting on Truth Social, Trump announced he had shot a 70, two under par, on the championship course at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster to capture what he said was his 40th club championship title. "The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship!" Trump wrote.
"Thank you very much to all of those who participated. I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I'm given very little time to practice, because I'm focused on many other things. It's called TALENT, and I have it, and they don't!" he added.
The score came on the club's Tom Fazio-designed championship course, after months of criticism from political opponents and media commentators questioning the president's stamina and physical fitness. The course has previously hosted both the U.S. Women's Open and LIV Golf tournaments and is regarded as one of the more demanding layouts in the country. Trump's Bedminster club has become one of the premier golf venues in the United States, regularly hosting major professional events and championship competitions.
The president has long described golf as one of his favorite pastimes, frequently competing at courses bearing the Trump name while balancing the demands of the presidency. He is expected to continue his golfing schedule next month during a planned visit to Ireland, where his Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg will host the Irish Open for the first time. "I have a beautiful place [in Ireland]," he said. "it's one of the best, most beautiful golf courses anywhere in the world. We have the Irish Open going to be there and we're going to have a tremendous celebration."
