Donald Trump condemned the surprise attack Hamas launched on Israel overnight, saying unequivocally that Israel has a right to defend itself.

"These Hamas attacks are a disgrace and Israel has every right to defend itself with overwhelming force," Trump posted to Truth Social Saturday morning. "Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration. We brought so much peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible. Here we go again."

The former president and current 2024 GOP frontrunner notably mentioned the Abraham Accords, a US foreign policy initiative from the Trump White House that strengthened peace in the Middle East through bilateral agreements.

The Accords pursued "a vision of peace, security, and prosperity in the Middle East and around the world" and was "encouraged by the ongoing efforts to consolidate and expand such friendly relations based on shared interests and a shared commitment to a better future."

Biden released $6 billion in frozen funds to Iran in order to secure a prisoner swap deal in which five Iranian hostages were handed over to the Islamic Republic in exchange for five American citizens.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken insisted that the unfrozen money would "be available only for humanitarian trade."

Meanwhile, the US Office of Palestinian Affairs raised eyebrows after it posted and quickly deleted a statement on X urging Israel to not defend itself following the surprise attack.

"We unequivocally condemn the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that incurred," read the original post. "We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing."
