Former President Donald Trump responded to FBI Director Christopher Wray’s congressional testimony in a post on Truth Social, commenting that if Wray believes Biden is not suffering from any “cognitive degeneration” then he should “resign immediately from the FBI, and stop 'sweet talking' Congress every time he goes up" to the Capitol.

"I watched the Congressional Hearing today as Christopher Wray was asked the question whether or not he noticed any Cognitive DEgeneration in his many conversations with Crooked Joe Biden and, despite the fact that Special Counsel Robert Hur said, effectively, that Joe Biden is INCOMPETENT, with LITTLE MEMORY, etc., Wray said that 'it is not something I observed during my interactions with him, which were uneventful and unremarkable,' essentially stating that he found nothing wrong, mentally or physically with 'Joe,'" Trump wrote.

"If that is the case, Director Wray should resign immediately from the FBI and stop 'sweet talking' Congress every time he goes up, which he loves to do, because anybody can see that Joe Biden is cognitively and physically challenged, and if you can’t see that, you sure as hell can’t be running the FBI - Unless, that is, you want to illegally lead the Raid on Mar-a-Lago. Wray has to resign, and NOW, for LYING TO CONGRESS!" Trump added.

Trump's comments were in response to Wray's testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, where he attempted to downplay claims that Biden has had any sort of cognitive decline while serving as president.

The hearing, initially focused on the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, saw Representative Matt Gaetz pivot to pressing Wray about President Joe Biden’s mental fitness and his ability to serve. Gaetz raised concerns about Biden's cognitive decline, especially in light of Biden's announcement that he will not seek re-election, which has spurred debate about his capacity to serve the remainder of his term.

“Who’s running the country?” Gaetz asked. “If something bad happened, you’d have to go brief President Biden about it right now?”

Wray responded, noting that he has briefed Biden on multiple occasions and described those briefings as “uneventful” and “unremarkable.”

Gaetz pressed further, asking, “Who’s been in on this conspiracy to hide the real Joe Biden from all of us for years? It never occurred to you that this guy wasn't up to it in all these briefings you did?”

Gaetz then asked if Wray had ever briefed Biden outside of what was reported as his "good hours" between 10 AM and 4 PM, a reference to reports that the president’s aides have admitted he is only fully alert during those hours. Wray confirmed that he has briefed Biden at various times, including outside those hours.

The questioning highlights ongoing concerns from some politicians about Biden's capacity to serve, with calls from figures such as Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance for Biden to resign. They argue that Biden’s decision not to seek re-election proves that he is unable to effectively carry out his current term in office.
