Elon Musk, head of the DOGE agency that's responsible for recommending government cuts, joined him in the passenger seat. Trump considered driving the car, though he conferred with Secret Service before doing so and did not take the car for a spin. Musk gave Trump a tour of the controls.
"This is really amazing," Trump said. He was asked by a reporter upon getting out of the car if the recent violence against dealerships would be labeled domestic terrorism.
"I'll do it," Trump said. "I'm gonna stop 'em. We catch anybody doing it, because they're harming a great American company." He pointed out that he's "stuck up for the NFL" and many other American companies. He touted the jobs provided to Americans by the Telsa car company.
"When you hurt an American company, especially a company like this that supplies so many American jobs, that others are unable to do. When you do that, those people are gonna go through a big problem when we catch them. We've got a lot of cameras up," Trump said, touting the level of surveillance video available. "We already know who some of them are. We're gonna catch them.
"And they're bad guys. They're the same guys that screw around with our schools and universities. The same garbage. No, we're gonna catch 'em. Let me tell you, you do it to Tesla you do it to any company, you're gonna go through hell."
There have been attacks on Tesla dealerships in Massachusetts, Colorado, New York, and Oregon. In Colorado, the attack was carried out by a male who is transgender.
