On Thursday, Tucker Carlson called out Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for using the word racism to "force the rest of the country into submission."

In a clip from Ocasio-Cortez's Youtube channel, she called for reparations for those families affected by Trump-era border policies, and said that the current border crisis is no crisis.

"What is happening here is not the same as what happened during the Trump Administration where they took babies out of the arms of their mothers and deported their families, and permanently traumatized these children... These things are barbaric, and they’re wrong.... Those families are owed reparations, period," said Ocasio-Cortez.

Carlson called for more sensible border control that doesn’t bend to people who resort to name calling, which Carlson says that racism is the magic word to get people to submit.

"I think the key to this though, is to think clearly about what’s best for the United States. Obviously, the border policy now is a disaster - to be fair it’s been a disaster for a long time, it doesn’t serve the interests of most Americans," Carlson says.

"And it wont, because people like that use the magic word which is racism to cow the rest of the country into submission. She wants to change the population, she wants her party to be more powerful, I get it. But were allowing her and people like her to do that because were afraid of being called names," he continues.

Carlson also points to the negative effects that the current border surge will have on the countries where these migrants are leaving from.

"How does it help Ecuador or El Salvador or Guatemala or any of the countries from which these people are coming to have your most ambitious people leave? It’s a disaster for them too, and for us. It doesn’t help any good person to have this kind of uncontrolled migration into our country," Carlson states.

In February, the US Customs and Border Protection encountered 100,441 people crossing the border, a 28 percent increase from January, which was 78,442 people. From February 2020 to February 2021, the number of people who crossed the border nearly tripled.
