Two arrests have been made in connection with the assault of a former Department of Government Efficiency employee early Sunday morning in Washington, DC.

The DC Metropolitan Police Department announced on Tuesday that a juvenile male and a juvenile female, both 15 and from Hyattsville, Maryland, have been arrested and charged with unarmed carjacking.

At around 3 am on Sunday, the suspects approached the victims in the 1400 block of Swann Street, Northwest, demanding their vehicle. They then allegedly assaulted one of the victims, who was identified as former DOGE employee Edward "Big Balls" Coristine. During the assault, the duo attempted to flee after an MPD cruiser pulled onto the block. The suspects were arrested at the scene, and a victim was treated for injuries.

Per Fox News, police have identified the woman who was with Coristine as his significant other. He reportedly pushed the woman into the vehicle to keep her safe and turned to confront the group, which ended in the assault.

The assault led to President Donald Trump threatening to federalize DC if the city didn’t crack down on crime, specifically crime undertaken by minors.

"If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore. Perhaps it should have been done a long time ago, then this incredible young man, and so many others, would not have had to go through the horrors of Violent Crime. If this continues, I am going to exert my powers, and FEDERALIZE this City. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN," Trump wrote.

Former DOGE head Elon Musk backed Trump, also calling for DC to be federalized: "A few days ago, a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in DC. A Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her. It is time to federalize DC."
