A senior who was struck by a pickup truck earlier this month near Vancouver's Olympic Village has died, according to Global News.

On March 4, a white Chevrolet Silverado collided with the 73-year-old woman, who was riding a mobility scooter, around 7pm near Columbia Street and West 2nd Avenue. She hit her head after being knocked to the ground.

Vancouver Police spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison said "Sadly, the 73-year-old victim suffered a head injury and died in the hospital last weekend after more than three weeks of medical care."

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, however Sgt. Addison notes that police are looking to speak with witnesses of the event.

"Anyone who saw this collision likely thought it was very minor, and may not have stayed behind to speak with police," he added.

Witnesses of the collision are asked to contact VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
