In response to the undercover reporting done on CNN’s technical director Charlie Chester in April, both he and CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and Sanjay Gupta refused to address questions regarding his employment status, as well as the comments he made regarding CNN pushing "propaganda."
Chester was approached by a Project Veritas reporter during the early hours of June 29, and was asked questions regarding his employment status at CNN. Chester refused to answer, instead silently entering his car and driving off in Jersey City.
According to Project Veritas, that early morning encounter, which occurred at 2:30 am, was the usual time he would drive to the CNN headquarters in New York City. "This video is the best clue Veritas has about Chester’s current employment status," said Project Veritas.
In April, Chester was exposed for comments on numerous occasions offering a glimpse into how CNN was reportedly fashioning "propaganda."
"It’s fear… fear really drives numbers. Fear is the thing that keeps you tuned in," said Chester, in regards to COVID death numbers.
"Covid? Gangbusters with ratings, right? Which is why we constantly have the [COVID] death toll on the side. Which I have a major problem with how we’re tallying how many people die every day. Because I’ve even looked at it and been like, look at it and be like, let’s make it higher. Like, why isn’t it high enough, you know, today? Like it would make our point better if it was higher," said Chester on another occasion.
Chester also praised CNN’s efforts to get Trump out of office, and adding that "climate change is gonna be the next COVID thing for CNN."
"If it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out," said Chester. "Our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that’s what it was, right?"
"There’s no such thing as unbiased news. It just doesn’t exist. Any reporter on CNN. What they’re actually doing, is they’re telling the person what to say," said Chester on one occasion.
"We were creating a story…" said Chester in regards to a Trump health story "…there that we didn’t know anything about, you know? Thats it — that’s what I think, that’s propaganda."
CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta was recently asked about Chester and his comments, with Gupta denying even knowing who Chester is.
When asked similar questions, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer walked away, refusing to answer any of the barrage of questions from the reporter.
"This shows a continued pattern of CNN employees being interviewed by Veritas and refusing to address how consequential this investigation was for the network and for the media landscape as a whole," wrote Project Veritas.
Project Veritas is encouraging any CNN staff with information to reach out regarding the investigation.
