Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Thursday recalled the Florida members of the National Guard who have been stationed in Washington, DC, for the inauguration. This came after it was discovered that Congress, upon reconvening, had kicked the troops out of Capitol and sent them to sleep in a parking garage.

Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis was horrified at the treatment of his state's Guard troops.

"These folks are soldiers," DeSantis said, "they've served our country all around the world, they’ve served our State of Florida after natural disasters, they're serving right now helping with vaccinating senior citizens. This is a half-cocked mission at this point, and I think the appropriate thing is to bring them home."

DeSantis was one of the vocal critics of such treatment of the Guardsmen, and also iterated that, since the inauguration is over, there isn't much reason for Florida's troops to continue hanging around the nation's capital. As such, he's calling them back home.

According to local outlet 7 News Miami, there has been widespread outrage over the fact that many of the Guardsmen were forced to take breaks in a parking garage and sit on the floor.

Between various branches of the military and agencies, over 25,000 pairs of boots were on the ground in the most heavily guarded inauguration probably in the history of the earth.
