Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon joined Fox News on Monday to discuss the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Steven Bannon, the former White House Chief strategist, told Fox News that "the FBI right now is the Gestapo." Bannon was recently on trial for contempt of Congress charges, and was found guilty, after refusing to initially comply with a subpoena from the January 6 Committee in September 2021, and later offering to testify once Trump had relieved him of the executive privilege.
Bannon explained that the FBI raid is further proof that the United States is reportedly going through a political and ideological war.
"We're at war," Bannon said. "We're at a political and ideological war, and they've obviously weaponized the Justice Department."
Bannon explained the severity of the FBI raid and said that it "had to go up to the White House to be approved."
"This had to go up the chain of command through Merrick Garland," Bannon said. "This is about pure power politics."
"They're absolutely petrified that Trump is going to announce in the next couple of weeks and win the Republican nomination, win the White House," he explained.
Bannon said that the House leaders need to "step up" and conduct an investigation into the FBI to "get to the bottom of this."
"This is going to continue on," Bannon explained. "The FBI right now is the Gestapo."
The former Trump adviser said that they way to fight back against the two-tiered system of justice is to "fight fire with fire" and overwhelmingly win the next election.
"This is about the administrative state. This is about an undemocratic apparatus...they want to pick and choose who actually runs and who actually wins," Bannon told Fox News.
