Giving a briefing to press on Wednesday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) balked at the idea that he should be wearing a mask after reporters asked him to, saying it would make them feel more comfortable.

Cruz told reporters to "step away" if his unmasked face made them uneasy.

As Cruz stepped up to the mic, a masked reporter asked: "Would you mind putting on a mask for us?"

"Yeah, when I’m talking to the TV camera, I'm not going to wear a mask. All of us have been immunized," Cruz replied.

"It'd make us feel better," the reporter said.

Cruz answered, "You're welcome to step away if you'd like. The whole point of a vaccine—CDC guidance, is what we're following."

Cruz went on with his briefing. Those who surrounded Cruz all wore face masks, but they were not speaking to press.
