2020 has been a tumultuous year, filled with conflict and tragedy. While COVID-19 captured our attention, things quickly changed in the summer when a man named George Floyd was killed during a police incident.

This led to gigantic riots and protests across the country. Racial justice became a major topic in the 2020 election and Black Lives Matter became a household name. Despite the movement towards racial justice, it has become evidently clear that racial divisions are present and seemingly worsening.

We are now entering a period where some thought leaders are promoting segregation between blacks and whites; a horrible idea that is all too familiar to Shelby Steele. Shelby was an active member of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s and had experienced true racial segregation. He believes we are heading in the wrong direction.
