Woke actress Jameela Jamil says British people 'are truly the most evil people in history'

Actress Jameela Jamil said British people are "the most evil people in history" while discussing her portrayal of Tahani Al-Jamil on the television series The Good Place, arguing that the character needed to be less friendly because of Britain's historical record.

Reflecting on the role, Jamil praised the show's writers for developing the character.

"I'm so lucky to have been a part of that show, it was so well written, and Megan Amram as well as one of the lead writers on that show who just wrote the shit out of Tahani, and so like, together we all crafted her," Jamil said.

"But I just had to make her more of a bitch, they wanted her to be very sweet, because Americans think British people are so sweet, which is crazy because British people are truly the most evil people in history, like they are 100%."

A co-host then interjected, "Go to a museum guys." Jamil responded by claiming "Yeah, they owe 43 trillion to India."

The co-host continued, "Maybe, go to Chiltern Firehouse and leave there and be like, wait, was that girl mean to me? Like, everyone's mean." Jamil added, "We colonize the world."

Britain's colonial empire at its height governed roughly a quarter of the world's landmass and population, and historians continue to debate the lasting political, economic, and humanitarian consequences of British imperial rule.

Jamil's assertion that British people are "the most evil people in history" is a sweeping characterization of an entire nationality. It also omits Britain's later role in leading the international campaign against the transatlantic slave trade. After abolishing the slave trade in 1807 and slavery throughout most of the British Empire in 1833, Britain committed significant financial resources and deployed the Royal Navy's West Africa Squadron for decades to intercept slave ships and suppress the trade worldwide.
