Between 2023 and 2025, support for the Democratic Party among young males dropped 28 points, while support for the Republican Party grew 16 points.
New polling released by the Pew Research Center has revealed that the Democratic Party is hemorrhaging support, especially among the youngest American adults.
The 2025 National Public Opinion Reference Survey has found that of those US adults between the ages of 18 and 29, 34 percent of men are Democrats or lean Democratic, while 58 percent of women said the same. In contrast, 52 percent of men said they were Republicans or leaned Republican, while 37 percent of women said the same. Additionally, 13 percent of men said they had no political leanings or had no response.
Just two years ago, the 2023 American Trends Panel annual profile survey found that 62 percent of men between the ages of 18 and 29 identified as Democrats or leaned Democratic, while 36 percent said they were Republicans or leaned GOP.
Among women in 2023 between the ages of 18 and 29, 65 percent of them said they identified as or leaned Democratic, while 30 percent said the same of the Republican party.
Between the two years, support for the Democratic Party among young males dropped 28 points, while support for the Republican Party grew 16 points. Among young women, support for the Democratic Party dropped 7 points, and support for the GOP Party grew by seven points.
The 2025 poll was conducted between February 5 and June 18 of 5,022 US adults and has a margin of error of 1.9 percent. The 2023 poll was conducted between August 7 and 27 of 11,945 US adults and has a margin of error of 1.4 percent.
A June poll conducted by Yale has found that among the members of Gen Z, there is an 18-point gap between the youngest and oldest members. Those between the ages of 22-29 favor Democrats by 6.4 points, while those aged 18-21 favor Republicans by 11.7 points.
