A 12-year-old Orangeville, Ontario girl is being recognized by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for returning a "lost sizable sum of money" that she found while finishing her newspaper route.

"Although Alana was not looking for any recognition for her honourable actions, Dufferin OPP felt it necessary to reward her honesty and integrity," police wrote in a Facebook post.

An officer met Alana and her mother to provide the teenager with a token of appreciation. When asked why she turned the money in, Alana replied, 'Because I just knew it was the right thing to do.'"

If you recently lost money and can specify the denomination of bills and approximate location, please contact Dufferin OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If in 90 days the funds are not claimed, they will be rewarded to the finder.
