On Saturday, 1873 new infections were reported in the province of Ontario, along with 17 new deaths.
This report marks the fourth consecutive day in which there have been more than 1800 new cases logged, including Thursday's high of 1983 new cases.
According to CTV News, the amount of testing performed is also at a record high, with 65,260 new tests being processed within the past 24-hour period, the highest number ever of tests performed in a single day. Testing numbers are in general up approximately 100 percent from six months ago.
This brings the running total of deaths to 3,933 within Ontario so far from the novel coronavirus. It should be noted, however, that over 2700 of these deaths have been people over the age of 80, almost all of them having been residents of long-term care homes.
The latest total of 17 deaths in a 24-hour period also included nine people who were care home residents.
Currently there are 855 people within the province being treated in hospital for the virus, up from 808 24 hours previously. Of those 855, 237 have needed intensive care. Of those 237, 143 have been placed on ventilators.
York Region and Winsor Essex region are set to go into lockdown again on Monday because of the increase of cases, witgh 185 and 81 new cases being reported, respectively. Toronto saw 522 new infections and Peel Region 436.
