Air Canada will be recalling more than 2,600 jobs as it prepares for an increase in travel.

The company says they will begin recalling employees in roles including flight attendants, with many penned to come back in June or July, reports The Canadian Press.

The company laid off thousands of employees last year, as the travel industry weathered the COVID-19 crisis.

The airliner was at the receiving end of backlash after they refused to refund those who had bought tickets and had their flights cancelled by the health crisis, essentially holding the federal government in a pressure position to receive a bail package.

They received a $5.9 billion aid package with the Trudeau Liberals in April of 2021.
