The New York Police Department sent out a memo on Thursday ordering all officers to wear their uniforms and prepare for mobilization following a Manhattan grand jury issuing an indictment of former President Donald Trump.

According to PIX11, the internal NYPD memo stated that officers of all ranks should perform their duties in uniform and be prepared for mobilization beginning Friday morning even though there have been no credible threats.

Since last week when the indictment appeared imminent, law enforcement agencies including the NYPD have been on heightened alert and the department erected barricades around the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse.

A spokesperson for Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement, “The mayor is in constant contact with Commissioner Sewell about all public safety issues affecting the city. The NYPD continues to monitor all activity and there are no credible threats to the city at this time.”

Shortly after the grand jury voted to indict Trump over alleged payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels, the 2024 presidential candidate released a statement calling Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg a "disgrace" and said that the indictment was "political persecution and election interference."

The indictment remains sealed and the actual charges are not yet known. It is the first time a criminal case has been brought against a former US president.

In a statement to the media, a spokesperson for Bragg said that his office has contacted Trump’s attorney to coordinate the former president’s surrender. “This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan DA’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal. Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected.”

On Thursday night after the indictment was announced, the sidewalks outside of Bragg’s office were lined with police barricades and security escorted the Soros-backed district attorney, who pledged during his campaign for office to prosecute Trump, from the building to a vehicle.
