After being closed for a week, the Ambassador Bridge, the highest-volume US-Canada border crossing point, has been reopened to the public on Sunday night, after authorities had forcibly removed protestors.

The Canadian Border Service Agency notified the public of the re-opening, however, still advising against "non-essential" travel:

On Friday, a provincial judge in Ontario granted an injunction sought by the province's government, allowing for the declaration of a second state of emergency due to the protest actions that were blocking the bridge.

On Saturday, a joint police force comprised of local and national police in Canada started to move in on the protestors. Several protestors were arrested at the time, and vehicles were impounded as they worked to clear the bridge.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) also reportedly offered help to the Canadian authorities to get rid of the protestors, should it be needed.

The protestors initially set up on the Canadian side of the bridge on Feb 7 2022, as part of a growing worldwide movement to end COVID restrictions. It appears that there may be more protests on the American side coming as well, both in the Detroit area and elsewhere.
