American Airlines crew DUCT TAPES man to seat after he bit, attacked others in drunken, slur-filled tirade

An American Airlines passenger was duct-taped to his seat after allegedly making racial and anti-gay comments while drunk, becoming violent, and causing the aircraft to divert.

Photos showed 67-year-old Arthur Lundeen zip-tied and duct-taped to his seat, with the tape wrapped around his head, chin, chest, and arms. The flight was traveling from Dallas, Texas to Newark, New Jersey

According to TMZ, witnesses said Lundeen appeared to be drunk and began yelling at a passenger next to him. He proceeded to call a flight attendant the N-word before using an anti-gay slur.

Lundeen reportedly became increasingly aggressive, allegedly hitting a passenger sitting nearby and striking the man’s computer. When a female passenger attempted to intervene, Lundeen allegedly pushed her, prompting three male passengers to step in. When they intervened, the man bit one of them, according to reporter Brigitte Gabriel.

Witnesses said the entire altercation began when Lundeen was screaming about Jesus and going to Hell.

The FAA confirmed that the plane was diverted to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and landed roughly 15 minutes later. There, law enforcement was at the gate to take the man into custody. One passenger sat on Lundeen's lap until the plane was able to make its emergency landing because the moment he moved, Lundeen "started acting up again."

The passenger who helped restrain Lundeen also said that the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, which is next week, was already on his mind.

"On Sept. 3, American Airlines flight 618 diverted to Baltimore (BWI) due to a disruptive customer. Upon arrival, law enforcement met the aircraft and assisted with deplaning the customer before the flight continued to its destination,” a spokesperson for the airline told TMZ. “The safety and security of our customers and team members is our top priority and we do not tolerate violence. We thank our team members for their professionalism and our customers for their understanding."
