Americans more likely to vote for Republican nominee than Biden in 2024 election

The poll found that 37 percent of respondents would vote for Biden, while 46 percent said they would vote for the Republican candidate.

A new poll published by Morning Consult/Politico has found that American voters are more likely to vote for a Republican candidate during the 2024 presidential election than sitting President Joe Biden.

The poll found that 37 percent of respondents would vote for Biden, while 46 percent said they would vote for the Republican candidate. An addition 16 percent said they had no opinion.

The poll, conducted between January 22 and 23, also found that 42 percent of Americans approved of Biden’s job performance, while 56 percent disapproved. Of those that disapproved, 39 percent strongly disapproved.

In regards to the 2024 election, 49 percent of respondents said they would vote for Donald Trump in the next Republican presidential primary. The next highest, at 14 percent, is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The poll also found that a majority of Americans support the Senate’s filibuster rule, with 25 percent strongly supporting, and 23 percent somewhat supporting. 11 percent said they somewhat oppose, while 16 percent said they strongly opposed.

Another question centered around the Senate filibuster asked respondents whether the Senate should have 51 or 60 votes in order to pass legislation. 40 percent said that there should be 51 votes, while 44 percent said there should be 60 votes.

In regards to the ongoing pandemic, a majority, 49 percent, of respondents said that the government should be more focused on the economy, rather than the spread of COVID-19. 43 percent said the focus should be on controlling the spread.

Asking respondents to consider their vote, the poll asked what issue would be the most important to keep in mind, with a majority, 40 percent, saying the economy.

41 percent of Americans said they disapproved of Biden’s handling of the country’s economy.
