Amy Klobuchar celebrated Trump social media ban—now complains about Jimmy Kimmel

Sen. Amy Klobuchar has accused the Trump administration of pressuring ABC to censor Jimmy Kimmel after the left-wing show host suggested that Charlie Kirk's assassin was on the right when the suspect charged with Kirk's murder is far on the left. Just a few years ago, Klobuchar was celebrating the censorship of President Donald Trump on social media.

On Friday, Klobuchar posted to X, "When the government pressures media companies to not carry a show, that is blatant censorship," in reference to Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off the air by ABC.

However, as some pointed out online, Klobuchar celebrated when President Donald Trump was banned from multiple social media platforms. Klobuchar was on with Seth Meyers when she was asked about Trump getting banned from Facebook.

"That was the right thing to do. He’s the disinformer-in-chief. He told the biggest lie of all time, which led to an insurrection by getting his followers to believe that the election was a fake,” she said at the time in 2021. “It was an outrageous moment with a number of Republicans calling him out on it at the time.”

“And so, as I said on that inaugural stage, this is the time for our democracy to pick itself up, dust itself off, move forward, and we do not need more disinformation from Donald Trump, or for that matter, from others who are spreading disinformation about the vaccine,” she added. “There [have] to be some rules of the road in place, and someone like him shouldn’t be allowed to make people believe lies.”

Klobuchar has previously called for the Biden administration to regulate social media to fight “misinformation.”

Kimmel earlier this week said that the "MAGA gang" was "desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

Tyler Robinson, 22, the suspect charged in Kirk's murder, at that point had been revealed to be far on the left despite attempts from left-wing media as well as influencers to paint him as part of the "groyper" movement or being far on the right.

Robinson, leading up to the assassination of Kirk, had expressed disdain about Kirk to his family and said that Kirk "spread hate" with his political views. Robinson has also been revealed to have been dating his male roommate, Lance Twiggs, who identified as transgender.
