On Sunday, a Pro-Palestine demonstration was rolling down Finchley Road in North London with a person shouting anti-Semitic slogans on a megaphone:
The global terrorist organization Hamas has recently been firing rockets at civilian Israeli targets over the past several days, as tensions in the region have flared up. The Israeli military retaliated by striking back at Hamas strongholds in the Gaza strip.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated, "There is no place for antisemitism in our society. Ahead of Shavuot, I stand with Britain’s Jews who should not have to endure the type of shameful racism we have seen today." This is presumably in response to the above-mentioned incident:
Priti Patel, the UK Home Secretary, echoed a similar sentiment:
The London Metropolitan Police issued a statement in response to calls for them to intervene:
"We are aware of a video appearing to show anti-Semitic language being shouted from a convoy of cars in the St John’s Wood area this afternoon. Officers are carrying out urgent enquiries to identify those responsible. This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated."
As of the time of this writing, Metropolitan Police have indicated that they have "identified the vehicle involved and are making enquiries to locate the occupants," thanking all the people who contacted them and gave them information.
Multiple arrests are expected to be forthcoming.
