Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently boosted progressive activst Benjamin Dixon's tweet criticizing the Lincoln Project and suggesting the funds allocated to it be redistributed.

According to this article by Business Insider, Ocasio-Cortez even went as far as to call the Lincoln Project's project "scam territory".

Immediately, she was met with discord and pushback from her Twitter followers:

The Lincoln Project is a political action committee formed in late 2019 by former Republicans, with its mission being to bring Republicans, especially never-Trump Republicans, to the Democratic party. Its stated aim has been not only to ensure Trump's defeat in 2020, but also the defeat of Republicans in the Senate and the House of Representatives, and to achieve a Democratic majority in both of these.

The controversy surrounding the project is based on whether it's as effective enough to warrant its big budget or not. It appears the Democratic party is split roughly down the middle on the issue.

Many prominent politicians and experts on both sides of the political spectrum have had issues regarding the Lincoln Project, accusing it of corruption and also of low-level tactics to try and achieve its goals.
