AOC would NOT date a conservative, claims it would go against her values

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would not date a Republican. The newly single, 37-year-old New York native has been sharing her journey harvesting and freezing her own eggs, but she's not in a rush to get back into a relationship, at least not if it means dating someone who has differing political views.

AOC was asked by TMZ on Capitol Hill if she'd consider dating a conservative. "I'd have to say, probably no," she said. "No foul to people who do," she went on.

"And of course, how you define that is very different from person to person. But I think a lot of politics, sometimes at least for me, is about values and being aligned in values is tremendously important." 

She and the ex Riley Roberts called it quits after a lengthy engagement that began in 2022 after more than 10 years of dating. AOC embarked on the documented, public egg-freezing journey shortly after the split. While she's undergone the egg-freezing procedure, which she documented daily for social media viewers, it's unclear when she'd fit in actually having a child.

She's rumored to be considering a 2028 presidential run, which could see her facing off against Secretary of State Marco Rubio or VP JD Vance. But there's also rumors that she could be seeking to take Chuck Schumer's long-held New York state Senate seat.

TMZ asked her about fitting in motherhood to her busy political life. "For me," she said, "I made decisions about my whole life, it's not ever just in a career context. It's about how do I fit all of these things? And I feel like my ambition is not just a career ambition, it's about how do we get to soak up as much of this life as possible?" 

"I was always raised as a family-first kind of person," she said. When asked if Roberts had been supportive of her egg-freezing thing, AOC said "All of my loved ones have been very supportive."

AOC is not the only one who sees aligned values as a serious consideration when it comes to relationships. The recent case of Lindsay Clancy, the mother who is on trial for the murder of her three young children, has divided couples after men realize that their partners support Clancy and believe she should be found not guilty due to reason of insanity.

During the first Trump administration, women's rights groups urged women to divorce their Trump-supporting husbands or break up with their Trump-supporting boyfriends rather than continue to date men who voted for candidates the women's groups didn't like. While couples used to feel it was important to marry those within their own religion, the new thing is making sure you're of the same political persuasion.
