Ariana Grande’s new album, Petal, came out at the end of July. The pop star has promoted her latest release, as well as beauty products from her brand, by being covered in fake blood.

In the title track for her album, Ariana Grande plays a woman in what appears to be the 1960s attending auditions in Hollywood. Later in the music video, Grande snaps, taking a chainsaw to executives holding the audition in a gruesome fashion, beheading and dismembering them.

The video closes with her walking into the waiting room, still covered in blood, with the awaiting women applauding her. A secretary tells her, “Good for you, b*tch.” It is then revealed that she was acting all along, leaving the scene to adoring fans outside, still covered in blood.

Grande took to social media while still covered in blood, taking a moment to promote her beauty products from her brand R.E.M. Beauty in a “what’s in my bag”-style video. She said she was “thinking of doing a grocery run, and I just wanted to some of my essentials for my everyday bag,” while getting bloody handprints on her handbag.

After finishing putting on lip gloss, she said, “Delicious. So that’s my look for the day,” blowing a kiss to fans.

Grande’s actions were criticized on social media. One person wrote, “Ariana Grande just recently posted this video and yet people still worship these celebrities. Honestly, what does it take for people to open their eyes to what these people are actually about?”

“This Ariana Grande video is giving dark, Satanic energy,” another wrote.

Comedian Chrissie Mayr called Grande “Britney Spears 2.0.”
