BC NDP leader apologizes for saying 'I don't see colour'

BC NDP leader John Horgan has issued an apology following the televised B.C. Provincial Debate, where all three party leaders were asked how they manage to address their white privilege.

In his response, Horgan discusses his childhood and playing sports with a diverse group of people from all sorts of ethnic backgrounds. He drew the greatest criticism when he stated, "I don't see colour" in relation to race. This was seen was deeply controversial and he quickly issued an apology, following the debate.

"I'll never fully understand, as a white person, the lived reality of systemic racism. I'm listening, learning, and I'll keep working every day to do better."
